This hotel is gorgeous! Really well located in Georgetown, pretty much everywhere is in walking distance. We stayed in the Heritage wing and would highly recommend it. Got a real charm about it and the rooms are spacious and delightfully decorated. Tea / coffee are on offer ‘in the lounge’ which is a nice touch and there is a happy hour between 6-7 which is pretty good and worth a visit just to see how greedy some people are. The Farquhar bar is also worth a visit as it has a nice ambiance about it. Personally, and I appreciate that this will divide opinion, I’d like to see the Heritage pool made adult only as the occasional noisy, petulant child rather spoils the tranquility

Fulfilled a dream of once again staying here. It’s been nearly 30 years since my last stay and it was lovely to relive that previous stay. The views from our room were wonderful especially listening to the soft sounds of the water below. The staff were all wonderful especially in the section where we had breakfast. One comment though, there needs to be signage about there being an egg station + roti and char kuey teow section outside the actual restaurant on the verandah. I understand why it cannot be located inside the restaurant but people need to be made aware of this. I had to enquire from the staff re eggs and I heard others also asking. Surely a small sign on the main buffet advising of this would be helpful to guests ! Would I stay again ? In a heartbeat 💗

We really enjoyed our two days in George Town. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel which was fine but there was a definite divide between the two which was notiveable. We had a lovely view and the room was fine. Afternoon tea in the Palm Court restaurant was a nice treat and the breakfasts at Sarkies were amazing. Great location right on the water front. It’s the place to be.

Just returned from an 8 day stay at the E&O. Honestly, staying here felt like we were on a movie set. 🩷 My husband vacationed on Penang Island when he was young. So having a special place to stay while we relaxed and explored the area was a priority for us. Exceptional service, an amazing hotel property, our spacious room, delicious food and the location exceeded our expectations. Other pluses: Great laundry service (three pieces a day were complimentary), the spa, hair salon and a friendly hotel team all added to We recommend a “sea view”and LOUNGE access for an ideal stay. And yes….we want to return!!!

We stayed here as part of our honeymoon from KL and before going to Langkawi. We absolutely loved the hotel, with some really lovely touches. The staff were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us. The breakfast was lovely, even though the main restaurant was closed (Sarkies). The room was huge and we had an incredible sea view from our balcony. We stayed in the Victory Annex which was to our taste and lovely, the infinity pool area was amazing in level 6 although the sun did get blocked from about 3pm, so be sure to get out there earlier if you’re wanting pure sun! The staff were lovely and polite, but often quite slow at the pool, but nevertheless they still did a good job of serving to your sun beds too, which is always welcome! We dined in the heritage wing on our last evening which was lovely and went to the bar there too! Definitely would return when coming back to Penang.
